Video model comparison
MiniMax H3 vs Veo 3.1: Which Is Better in 2026?
Two genuinely different machines. MiniMax H3 conditions on evidence: up to nine reference images, three reference videos, three reference audio tracks, six aspect ratios including 21:9, and a duration for every second from four to fifteen. Veo 3.1 conditions on control: a seed that re-renders the take identically, 4K, and hard rules about when it renders eight seconds. Both return native sound. Evidence or control is the whole decision.
Every figure below is read from Imgo's model registry, the same specs requests are validated against, so the table cannot drift from them. Being in the registry is not the same as being live: the availability note says which models can be generated today.

Choose MiniMax H3 when…
The take is built from evidence. A product or character needs reference images, a motion needs a reference video, a presenter needs to lip-sync your audio — and the frame might be 21:9 cinematic. Up to twelve conditioning inputs and second-level duration control are what H3 is for.
Choose Veo 3.1 when…
The take has to be reproducible and cinematic. Veo is the only one of the two with a seed — a take approved today renders the same way next quarter — and its 4K comes in the same request.
Two H3 constraints worth knowing first
- First and last frames cannot be combined with references on H3. A run conditions on frames or on reference media, never both — plan the request around that split before wiring a pipeline.
- H3 both speaks and listens. Every clip comes back with a generated 32 kHz stereo track — dialogue, effects and ambience — and in reference mode, reference audio steers voice, lip-sync and timing (the presenter workflow). Write the sound you want into the prompt, or the model chooses it for you.

Library results attributed to Veo 3.1 are shown here when they exist. MiniMax H3 takes join them once the model is live on Imgo; the availability note at the top of the page tracks which of the two can be generated today.

Which is better in 2026?
- Which is better, MiniMax H3 or Veo 3?
- They split on how the take is steered. H3 wins when the brief arrives as evidence — references, videos, audio to sync — or needs 21:9 and second-exact lengths. Veo wins when the take must re-render identically for an approval chain or needs 4K. Both generate native audio. The registry table above is the tiebreaker for your request shape.
- Can MiniMax H3 lip-sync a talking head?
- Yes, two ways. In reference mode, attach the narration track and the portrait moves to it; or write the lines into the prompt and H3 generates the voice and the lip movement together. Veo generates its soundtrack but does not accept one, so a pre-recorded voiceover belongs on H3.
- Why does Veo only go to eight seconds?
- By design, and stricter than it looks: 1080p, 4K, and reference-image runs are forced to eight seconds regardless of what you request. H3 offers every duration from four to fifteen seconds, which is exactly the range Veo's ceiling excludes.
- Which one costs less to run?
- Both are quoted per generation with the price visible before you submit. The honest comparison unit is credits per accepted take: reference-heavy H3 runs can nail a brief first try, while Veo's seed turns retakes into re-renders instead of re-rolls. Once both are live on Imgo, the same brief can run on each against one shared credit balance — the live quote is the price source of truth.
